The European Commission’s Innovation Radar — an initiative that identifies and showcases high-potential innovations from EU-funded research — has recognised several innovations emerging from the GLUCOTYPES consortium. Three distinctions were awarded, including recognition for two key technologies with high market creation potential.
AI-enabled disease risk stratification using CGM data
An AI-powered platform for population-level disease risk stratification using continuous glucose monitoring data was classified as “Tech Ready”, reflecting its advanced stage of development. The Weizmann Institute of Science and the University of Copenhagen were identified as Key Innovators.
Molecular and glycan-based biomarker panels for health stratification
A second innovation — molecular and glycan-based biomarker panels for detecting and stratifying health conditions linked to glycaemic dysregulation — was recognised for its market creation potential and classified as “Exploring”. It is being developed jointly by Genos, Leiden University Medical Center, and the University of Copenhagen.
Glucotypes selected for the EIC Tech2Market Programme
GLUCOTYPES has also been selected to join the EIC Tech2Market Programme, a competitive business acceleration service supporting EIC Pathfinder and Transition projects in translating frontier research into market-ready innovations. Through entrepreneurial training, expert mentoring, and access to investor and industry networks, the programme will help the consortium refine its commercialisation strategy, explore business models, and identify the most promising pathways for future development and investment.
Together, these recognitions reflect the breadth of innovation within GLUCOTYPES, spanning molecular biology, artificial intelligence, and digital health — and the consortium’s commitment to translating research into real-world solutions for precision nutrition and cardiometabolic health.
